Major General Peter Davies was educated at Llandovery College and Welbeck College, followed by military training at the Royal Military Academy, the Royal Military College of Science and the Royal College of Defence Studies.

Currently the Director General of The World Society for the Protection of Animals, Peter previously served from 1991–2002 as the Director General of the RSPCA, one of WSPA’s largest Member Societies. Prior to accepting the role of Director General at WSPA, Peter served on WSPA’s Board of Directors (1991-2002), as well as completing a two-year tenure as WSPA President (2000-2002).

As a leading figure in the charity sector, Peter has held and holds voluntary posts at other charities. These have complemented his role as WSPA Director General and include: Executive Director, Eurogroup for Animal Welfare (1991-2002), Chairman, Animals in War Memorial Fund (1997-), Trustee ‘Flora for Fauna (2000-), Chair of UK Consultative Committee of all UK Animal Welfare Charities (1992-2002), Trustee of ADDACTION (Drug and Alcohol Abuse) (1996-2001), Trustee of Llandovery College (1992-2003), Chairman of Freedom Food Ltd (1994-2003).

Mr David Wilkins was educated at Cambridge University School of Veterinary Medicine with a Master of Arts (MA) and a Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (Vet.MB Cantab).

Currently Veterinary Adviser to The World Society for the Protection of Animals, David is also Member of OIE’s permanent working group on animal welfare, Co-ordinator of the International Coalition for Farm Animal Welfare and Former Adviser to the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) on European matters.

David is also involved in other activities well integrated with his role at the WSPA.
These activities include: Expert to the Council of Europe‘s Standing Committee on the Convention on the Protection of Animals kept for Farming Purposes (T-AP); Expert to the Council of Europe‘s Multilateral Consultations on the Conventions on Transport, Animal Experimentation, Slaughter, and Pet Animals.

Until November 2003 David Wilkins was also Former Director of Eurogroup for Animal Welfare.
