Member Societies

The WSPA Member Society Network is the largest international alliance of animal welfare organisations in the world, with 910 groups in 153 countries.

In all aspects of its work, WSPA aims to collaborate with and support animal welfare groups through the WSPA Member Society Network – the largest international alliance of animal welfare organisations in the world.

WSPA believes that the Member Society Network is an international force that governments and decision makers cannot fail to listen to, and this is helping to create a momentum of positive change for animals worldwide.

Member societies range from large national organisations, covering a range of welfare issues, to small specialist groups, working on specific problems.

Whether they work alone, with WSPA, or with one another, they are all looking for effective ways to improve animal welfare, be it on a local, national and international scale.

Member society benefits

Organisations in the WSPA Member Society Network benefit from:

Partnership…

…with WSPA and other member societies.

Over the last five decades, WSPA has implemented effective and sustainable animal welfare projects around the world by working with local groups, who have the skills and knowledge that are suited to an area.

Whether a small-scale animal rescue operation or an international campaign, WSPA has seen how organisational partnerships can place significant pressure on decision makers at local, national and international levels, and achieve far-reaching results.

Advice…

…from WSPA staff and other member societies on a range of issues including animal welfare, campaigning, fundraising and organisational management.

Less experienced groups can benefit from the help of larger, established organisations, who have faced similar problems, and established societies can play an active role in problem-solving, and share their expertise as an investment for the future.

Information…

…through WSPA’s extensive resource library – which contains a variety of written and visual resources, covering a range of topics from stray control to shelter management to effective campaigning and fundraising – and through regular e-mails, letters and the Member Society Network’s biannual magazine, ‘Global Network‘.

Training…

…through WSPA workshops and conferences.

These capacity-building programmes, which occur around the world, cover a variety of animal welfare issues and management skills and aim to develop the expertise and knowledge of member societies.

Funding…

…for animal welfare projects through our grant funding programme. Please note that not all funding applications are successful, and projects are judged individually on a number of criteria.
